How to Use

THE TIE BRICK®

THE TIE BRICK® can provide up to four support units. THE TIE BRICK® can effectively keep the wire mat or rebar from contacting or sinking into the ground. One TIE BRICK® can be broken into 1, 2, 3 or 4 support units and used in various ways to provide a variety of heights and/or create extra stability.

How to Use THE TIE BRICK®

Before starting always wear proper protective equipment when breaking THE TIE BRICK®.

1. Strike THE TIE BRICK® against a hard surface such as another TIE BRICK® or hammer to break into support units (Figure 1).

2. Place the support unit on the bottom of the form on four-to five-foot centers (Figure 2).

3. Place the rebar or wire mesh on THE TIE BRICK® support unit. Insert a tie wire through the hole in the support unit. Bring the tie wire up around the reinforcing steel and twist until the steel is secured in place to THE TIE BRICK® support unit (Figures 3a – 3c).

4. Different sides of the support unit may be used as a base to provide the elevations of 2,3 and 4 inches (Figures 3a, 3b, and 3c). Support units may be stacked in combination to provide elevations of 5,6,7 and 8 inches. When working in soft sandy soil one may select the wider dimension side as the base and stack the support units for better load-bearing of the reinforcing steel (Figure 4).
